Typically I never buy the extended warranty, but Hercules is relatively unproven compared to brands like Dewalt or Makita. So I'm considering it if the cost is reasonable This would be no questions asked model-equivalent replacement of item according to the sales rep. Dewalt warranty would be the standard 1 year free service, 3 year coverage for manufacturer defects.

Additionally, stores usually offer their own extended warranties too. However, these are very lacking from what I see, and are not a direct swap for a new saw. They will send your saw in for service instead, which might take weeks or even months.

So what it comes down to is I would rather have the Dewalt IF I could get a warranty to just swap out the broken saw with a new one, but I cannot. It would mean dealing with a service center. So I've decided on going with the Hercules for my Father's Day present. I have the Herc, and it makes perfect miters. Home Depot has the same thing price.. I just saw a guy buy a Hercules and buy the warranty. They cost the same. The Dewalt is better in every way!!!!

Now Hercules is not terrible in fact it a good saw but comparing the Dewalt to Hercules is like comparing a fully capable full size truck to a Ridgeline So these two are not even close to the same saw.
