No flat edge on the subbase makes routing against a straightedge more prone to slight discrepancies. More points: One of only two fixed-base routers in our 3-hp router test; field cuts are more difficult without plunge action.

Detailed Ratings 4. Reviewed by: robbyw Review Summary I bought this router a couple of years ago for use in my router table. I messed with it in its original fixed base, but I don't really have an application that can use the power of this router in a base. I installed it in a Jess-Em Master Lifter base and my router table. The combination is dynamite! If you don't want to use a lift, the router and base have a mechanism that allows you to adjust the height of the router from above.
This would enable you to just bolt the fixed base to your router table and use it as is. You would have to be careful that the router didn't fall out though. I recommend a real lift instead.
The motor is fairly large and heavy and very sturdy. There is a speed control knob near the top and it works well.
