Just buy a decent 6 and go for it. Gently clean it and get it good and sharp and carefully adjust the capiron- it will joint most anything. Don't get hung up on flattening sole- most will do just fine with a sharp iron-it is the most crucial thing for a plane- then capiron and mouth setting!
