CNC Picture Carving: As shown on many of my videos, I cobbled together a CNC machine recently.  While learning to use it I also wanted to be able to import g-code from regular digital pictures and do cuttings on wood and other materials.  I'm always looking fo. This method works by inputting a set of lines or paths (in rhino) that the CNC router will cut/carve along, and using information from your image (in grasshopper) to define the depths of those cuts. Through the choice of your cutting bit, you can therefore achieve different results. Scan the image onto your computer if it is not already in digital format. Import it into your CAD program and give each line of the drawing an engraving depth. This will set the Z-axis of the CNC, while the image itself will give the coordinates for the X- and Y-axis.
