Since this project was starting entirely from scratch, I needed to make a flawless design that could be easily worked with, and a good design dowel pegs board us reduces waste. I found some plastic gears which meshed correctly with the 8" rubber belt I had for the drum. An important thing to think about is the space you have. There was only about an inch of clearance between the internal wall and the drum, so space was tight.
