Is it clear? Linseed oil will oxidized your wood when it cures so it would have an amber tone. I woudl recommend to try it on a scrap piece of wood to test out color.

It has less protection than poly. It also penetrates so if you have open grain wood like pines it creates a problem that some area would soak up more than others. I used linseed oil extensively on my wood tool handles or small household item. For your desk size, other types would be better such as osmos wipe on clear coat. Experiment and you will find one in your liking. Also since you used poly coat already, linseed will not be compatible with poly; it woud work if linseed first then poly oil type as top coat.

Noted that rags of linseed oil will spontaneously combus in as low as F so make sure you wash the rags or hand them outdoor.

Many woodshop burned down because improper linseed rags disposal. It is very slightly yellowish i guess, it is hard to explain. If you already put something else on dont cover it with linseed oil, i think it wont do anything. The linseed oil doesnt dry like artificial oils, it basically just gets absorbed by the wood and then slowly dries.

If you decide to do it be prepared to also spend a fair amount of time sanding afterwards to get rid of all the tool marks left by the router bit. Look amazing. I like your build very much. I just have a question about the blue pine. My understanding is that it's a fungus that grows in after the pine beetle removes too much sap. Many of the guys I've worked with have told me that sun will kill this fungus and turn the wood white again. Is this something your worried about? Did you do anything to preserve the color? The place where the desk is going it will not really get any sun though.

Basically just route a large hole like half way into the base, then the one that goes all the way through is small enough that the head of the screw wont go through, but elongated with the grain so the screw can move, washer helps it move and make sure you don't over-tighten it.

They make a special bit as well that's nice for smaller stuff, but not really practical for thick stock. Most of the time I use a fortsner bit at the start then just a normal drill bit and will use lag bolts that are put into threaded holes for the table. You can use thread taps into wood, but just go really slow in and out.
