You have to bolt the jig components and the grinder to the surface of the work area. To keep from bolting directly to my workbench, I made an L-shaped platform that I can set on the bench and lock into one of the vises. When you have the jig set up correctly, you will be able to get a good sharpening grind on your tools every time. If you aren't sure about setting it up correctly, hit a Woodcraft store or a wood turners club and have an expert show you how.
