Has anyone done it? Care to comment on the quality of the course and the stuff he has you make? I like his YoutTube videos but I'm just wondering how much deeper the course gets and whether it's worth the weekend woodworker reviews 68 purchase.
I signed up for the course when it was originally launched. Unfortunately, that happened just as my season for wood working in my detached, unheated, upper-midwest garage ended. Now that Spring is finally starting to take hold, I am beginning to work my way through the course and complete the projects. I am a beginning wood worker. The projects were pretty decent and he does a nice job explaining methods and providing little tips along the way. He generally uses tools that a beginner would have, with a few exceptions dado stack, to name one.
The classes are meant to be completed in a weekend, but there is no time limit. Work at your own pace. Once the project is completed, you submit a picture a get a certificate. It's kinda cheesy, but it provides a sense of accomplishment. I would really like there to be more of these kinds of things for beginners. Call them Guilds or courses or The Weekend Woodworker Bmw Korea whatever but they are out there and may just take some work tracking them down. They also vary a lot by the type of wood you want to do. Renaissance WW is a hand tool only guy so its great if thats your flavor of work.

I was and still am a total newbie before taking the course. But my skill set has honestly gotten a lot better and each weeks assignment increases my skill level. The course is simple to follow with step by step video's. Printable PDF plans are also included. I've built 4 projects so far and they honestly are pretty decent. I just completed a bedside table that would have been very difficult for me to accomplish without the skills I learned in the class.

Depends how much that money means to you, if you find it expensive then no, i wanted to get my money back cause i felt i wasn't learning anything but i kept going on to see what's next and there is not much that you can learn, of course there are some stuff that you'll find out but.
That being said it's worth it as it drives you to build something so you can finish the course and let's face it, without practice theory is worth almost nothing and you learn a few tips and tricks, but it's preety how's it spelled again?

I get what you mean in that there are ways to learn and get experience without paying for it.
