When building large and wide drawers I use KV file drawer slides. They look like 2 slides,one on top of the other, with a rubber wheel between them. They open with progressive action and the drawer has thin rails mounted that hook on top of the slides. The number ending in 05 means it has an overtravel feature so it pulls out an inch or more past full extension.

Blum does offer heavy duty under mount slides with higher load ratings and they work quite well. If the drawers are going to be solid wood and dovetailed I use under mounts.

If they are BB ply I use side mounts. It's functional vs aesthetic , but price always is an issue. If drawers are wider than deep or very large you are approaching the limits of undermount slides and function becomes the controlling factor no matter the budget.

Views: I think it probably doesn't matter, it does seem that optimum location would be at the center of gravity of the drawer with it fully loaded, i usually set them at the bottom of the drawer and at the bottom of the drawer opening which automatically gives clearance and the bottom of the drawer, i have also set them at the center of the drawer when doing several one above the other, it just seemed simpler to layout.

A deep loaded drawer is more stable from the side to side movement with the slides set in the middle of the drawers. As tom Moores says, there is really no set reccommended location of the slides.

Got the original ripcut and didn't really like it had trouble cutting straight. New one has several improvements should make it work much better.
