I have been having trouble with my Cricut foil transfer kit. I did what was supposed to do, put it on custom, then choose my card stock, which was light cardstock. You barely see any foil at all. I was just wondering, since you are able to use velum as an option of material, have you tried using acetate? I just got my monthly Cricut mystery box and as soon as I saw the acetate, the foil popped in my head! I just tested the acetate, it did work but the longevity may not last that long. Using my finger nail I was able to easily scratch the foil off. I used, medium cardstock with more pressure as my setting on the Maker.

You could certainly try alternate settings like Kraftboard to see if deeper pressure allows for better results. Do you have any suggestions as how to work with precut cards? The easiest thing to do is create your design on the same size card in Design Space that you will physically have on your cutting mat. Once you get to the mat preview section, place your design to match what you want to happen on your cutting mat and then you can hide the card layer you created in Design Space and it should come out pretty close.
