Halstead is completely right concerning using a sealer over the entire surface of the floor, this is done to ensure the floor will look even in appearance.

I called the company asking questions about this product and they told me to absolutely NOT use this over a nonporous surface like the old peel and stick I just want to make sure these floor tiles go down well and stay down I can assure that all responses of mine and every team member on the How-To Community aren't computer generated or an umbrella answer.

A while back,we used to carry an opaque white seam sealer for sheet linoleum flooring, but this was only for that line of flooring. Your flooring pro you spoke to was referring to using a primer over the existing flooring so that it can give the subfloor a tacky workable surface for the new tiles.

However, the Henry Floor Primer is typically for porous and dry floors, like concrete slab subfloors. While it isn't necessary to put a primer down over your existing peel and stick tiles, making sure the tiles now are securely adhered to the subfloor, smooth, and free of surface defects and wax is necessary.

Also, any loose or damaged areas of your existing floor needs to be patched and replaced. I know I keep saying this like in the previous post, but this is crucial to making sure the floor lasts.

Another factor in a successful tile installation is making sure all the vinyl tiles are acclimated in the room where the tile is going to be placed at least for 48 hours and at least 65 degrees Fahrenheit before installation. So really, all you would need is to check the floor now to make sure it is clean and level. I'm not sure why Halstead would say that these can't be placed directly over what you have now.
