I do wish contractors explained things like the harness and that there is a weight limit to sinks and upper cabinets. You never have too much storage. Could you put the pantry on the wall opposite the sink so you have counters all the way around on the sink side?

That counter space might be more useful than on the wall opposite. Instead of drawers, consider cabinets with pullouts. I have done those in two kitchens, and they are great. You can't adjust the height of a drawer, but you can move the pullout shelf.
