The solid cast iron wheels also dampen vibration, are precisely balanced, and are fitted with polyurethane tires that run cooler and last longer. The generously sized table is micro-polished to a beautiful sheen and includes a precision fence that can be flipped vertically for resawing, or horizontally for standard ripping. Received the bandsaw and there was a small defect on the table. As the machine is supplied with Laguna ceramic guides, this is not imperative because the ceramic will round the back of the blade as it is used. Read more in this Woodworking Adventures blog by Sharon. A well-tuned bandsaw can provide you with the means to cut large sweeping curves, cut custom veneer and even produce your own rough-sawn lumber from a log.

Received the bandsaw and there was a small defect on the table. I contacted customer service via email and got a response the same day. They asked for pictures, which i sent and they determined that a new table should be sent out. Saw was easy to setup following the youtube videos. As this is my first bandsaw i can not say how it compares to other brands but i am really happy so far with the purchase.

The Laguna can run on standard v, however it has many of the nice features found on larger cabinet saws. A large quick-release blade tension lever makes blade changes a snap. The large throat plate insert helps you see what you're doing to set the ceramic guides. The ceramic guides might just be my favorite feature of this saw.

With 5 points of contact above the table, and five points of contact below the table, the blade has excellent control. I also really like the rack and pinion system for adjusting the guide height cut height. It maintains perfect alignment as it travels up and down by a hand crank. The ceramic guides stay in alignment, and the blade stays square to the table The tall re-saw fence is fantastic for its intended purpose.

However, it can get in the way for shorter cuts, so you flip the fence on its side for a "flat" mode. This works fairly well, but I like the re-saw made better. At any rate the fence slides smoothly on a nylon guide, and locks down securely. Everything about the seems professional and easy to use. Even the optional LED snake light is well designed and lights up the work surface as intended.

I can highly recommend this model. Love it. The saw works great, however there are a couple minor "inconveniences". The bottom door hits the fence, so the fence must be moved out of the way for the door to open fully. Not a big deal to me because I don't plan to change blades often.

The lower guides are under the table, so there isn't much room for your hands to adjust to make adjustments. Also, a brake would be nice but not a big deal for me. I knew when I bought the saw that it didn't have a brake. I highly recommend watching the YouTube assembly videos before or during assembly.

The saw was super easy to "square up" and assemble. Great saw for the money. I could not be happier with this bandsaw. Follow the setup instructions and it cuts true, even thick resaw cuts. I've cut 8" with not problems. Laguna has a series of vids to set up the bandsaw.

A few little quirky things, like you have to loosen two screws and drop a gate to open the lower door. And the bottom guides are not easy to get to for adjustment. But those are minor things, in my opinion. I bought my at the Roanoke store the help was terrific I got it home and with the help of a friend we got it to gether in less than too hours it works like a charm very quiet no vibration resawed a 2x10 perfectly never slowed down the mobility kit makes moving it around easyLOVE MY LUAGUNA.

The blade tracking system is terrible Please be careful of what you purchase and ask questions. We own a Laguna 14 SUV bandsaw, and love it. Bought this , based on reviews, as a second saw.

Believe me, there is no comparison. The SUV blows away this lightweight saw. Things I don't like: 1. The blade tensioner handle is situated in the throat of the saw. The blade re-tensioner operates on the up-stroke instead of the downstroke, unlike other bandsaws.

For old guys with shoulder issues, pulling down on the lever is far easier than pushin up on a lever above one's shoulders. The blade guides are ceramic, which is good, but they won't stay in position unless superglued. They ruin blades if they work their way out.

The adjustable arm that holds the upper guides is sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. There should be no lateral play, but there is huge play. One cannot adjust the lower blade guides without removing the table. Just another of the poorly engineered decisions on this bandsaw. No foot brake.

Blade coasts for ages. In short, spend the extra money and get a real bandsaw, the SUV. It is well worth the extra dollars. Needed a bandsaw to resaw wood for guitars. Sold my General, which I dearly missed I thought. Not so once I put this sucker together. Very easy to do by myself, leaving it in the styrofoam packing while bolting on the base and the mobile hardware and lifting it, motor facing up.

Re-tension handle was originally not too reassuring but has earned my trust, as the blade runs just as it did when originally adjusted. Read reviews about laments over the old ones made in Italy. This one blows them all away IMHO. That said, the Laguna is impressing my woodworking friends regardless of the size of their bandsaw. This was an upgrade from my 10 year old 9" store brand bandsaw from a box store.

The 9" saw was incapable of sawing through 2" thick material without the blade getting stuck or the belt slipping. So time to upgrade! Anyway, this saw was not difficult to set up. I watched the videos about setup on YouTube put out by Laguna and it was easy. After set up was completed, this thing works like a charm! I have been able to re-saw material 12" thick with no problem, cut bowl blanks out of rough sawn log slices with no difficulty.

With the thin blade, I was able to make some very nice band saw boxes. I could not be more pleased with the bandsaw. The light attachment is a great addition. I have the mobile base attachment also, and it works as expected. I bought this saw after agonizing over the other 14" saws out there. This replaced an ancient Craftsman 12" saw. Holy Cow! I should have done this years ago.

I haven't used it to it's capacity yet, but this thing sure liked to resaw! Had a minor issue with one of the ceramic guides not fully seated. Called Laguna, and they advise to heat it up and push it in. Page 16 Optional mobility kit The optional mobility kit is fitted to the stand and consists of two fixed wheels at the back of the bandsaw and a swiveling wheel at the front of the band saw.

The swivel wheel is activated and deactivated with a foot lever. With the swivel wheel deactivated, the bandsaw sits on two feet. Page Unpacking Your Machine rotated, will move the wheel up or down. The machine has a quick-acting blade release mechanism that is located at the back of the machine and will remove the tension from the blade to speed the removal and fitting of blades.

The mechanism has a spring, which helps to keep the tension constant as the blade expands and contracts with the heat generated by the cutting action. Page Assembly And Set Up 2. Lift the bandsaw out of the packaging. You will need two or more people, as the bandsaw is heavy. Lift the bottom Styrofoam out and remove the parts that are packaged under the bandsaw Laguna 1412 Bandsaw Review Number and packaging. Page 20 2. Fit the front swivel wheel on the stand as shown by bolting in position through the stand onto the support bracket. Do not fully tighten the screws, as the height of the wheel will have to be adjusted to suit the stand. Page 21 Fitting the stand to the bandsaw shown with opitional mobility kit. Motor supported Bandsaw raised off the ground You will probably find that it is easier to fit the stand to the bandsaw with it in the horizontal position and then lifting it to the vertical position as shown in the above photographs.

Page 22 that you feel is unsafe or that you do not have the physical capability of achieving, as the bandsaw is heavy. You will probably find it easier to assemble the stand to the bandsaw prior to Laguna 1412 Canada Data fitting the other part table, etc. With the stand aligned to the bandsaw, fit the fixing screws and fully tighten.

Page 24 Fitting the table rule Table rule with fixings Table with rule mounted Attach the rule to the table with the fixings supplied.

Do not fully tighten the bolts, as the position of the rule will have to be adjusted to suit the blade, which will be detailed latter in the manual.

Page 25 1. Fit the fence bar to the table with the screws and spacers suppliers. The distance between the fixing holes and the end of the bar is different, and the end that has the longest distance must be at the back of the bandsaw closest to the column. Page Testing The Bandsaw Fitting the optional light Fixing screws and cable clips Light fitted in position Suggested cable route Light plugged into v socket The light is fitted to the top of the bandsaw as shown.

The light is supplied with a volt three-pin plug. The cable must be held in position with the clips provided and positioned so that the cable is safe and will not in any way come close to the blade or cabinet door.

Page 27 5. Wear a dust mask; long-term exposure to the fine dust created by the bandsaw is not healthy. Remove your tie, rings, watch and all jewelry. Roll up your sleeves; you do not want anything to get caught in the saw. Page 28 3. Check that the machine is clear of all tools and other loose objects.

Check that all the adjusting and locking handles are tight. Check that there is no blade fitted; it is far safer to test the machine without a blade fitted. Page 29 Fitting a blade to the bandsaw A lot of people do not like to change the blades and go to great lengths to avoid doing it. To use the bandsaw to its greatest advantage, you will have to use the appropriate blade and track it quickly.

Page 30 9. Deactivate the quick action blade tension lever and Laguna 1412 Canada Price rotate the blade tension wheel so that the blade can fit over the lower flywheel. Activate the quick action blade tension lever. Lock knob Apply light tension to the blade with the blade tension wheel. Page 31 1. To track the blade start rotating the wheels by hand in the normal direction. As you do this, watch the blade to determine where the blade wants to track.

If the blade is tracking too far forward or backward, make small adjustments with the tracking adjustment knob located at the back of the bandsaw while still rotating the wheel.

Page 32 Plug the machine into the power. Turn the machine on for a second and switch off. Watch how the blade runs. If the blade tracks well, then run the machine at full power. If the blade tracking needs adjustment, repeat adjustment. Method 2 Tension the blade as described in method 1. Page 33 Please read the following notes, as they will assist you in getting the optimum performance from your Laguna guide system.

As with the roller guide systems, the Laguna guide system will damage your blade if it is not adjusted correctly. The guide blocks must not come in contact with the teeth of the blade. Page 34 7. When cutting gummy or green wood, the blade can become covered with resin. You will find that the surround guide system ceramic blocks remove the resin as the blade is moved through the guide blocks and keep that part of the blade clean.
