I am responsible for introducing her to Roxy Music, and now I have a resident fan to talk with about one of the most unusual bands I love.

Later in what could be the same school year, I was at a cast party for a play production and the father of the house asked me to play an unrecognizable band to me at the time. I was usually commandeered into being the DJ because I could get the old stereo in the basement working… It turns out that the unrecognizable band was Roxy Music, the record was siren.

Nobody including me had any interest in the songs and the record quickly got shuffled off to the side. I then forgot about Roxy Music. I immediately started to collect all the records and learn about the band. Too often Bryans vocals are out of tune, no wonder they werent on the radio when I was searching for interesting stuff to listen to.

I like to play them when I am in a nostalgic mood, and I sneak a song or two into playlists when we have people over, waiting for that person to run up to me and say Roxy Music?!?! A few years ago we went to see Bryan Ferry in concert.

It was without a doubt one of the best experiences I have had at a live music event. He literally blew us away, the renditions of the songs, from all over the spectrum were amazing. The musicians he brought were spot on — I know the beats and tones in these songs inside and out, they nailed every nuance. The fans made the experience even better. People were dancing with each other in the asileways.
