The first person to comment said it was a bad top ten — and drove off. You have to put yourself out there on the target range and endorse something too. The whole song is silly as fuck, in a good way. The Space Between mostly rides on that simple, brilliant Mackay riff and the rest of the arrangement. At some point on this mix I had put Crispian St. Not sure if this is how you hear either of course. I did glance through it again while working on this looking up various song titles in the index and had warmer feelings about its, er, ambitiousness.

Plus it has a great pic of Mackay on the cover. Interesting list. Thanks, Tim. And yeah, I could already shift a large number of these around in terms of ranking. Obviously should have double-checked because it seemed odd to me when I read that.

Or maybe I misinterpreted something I read. Each to his own. Certainly some controversial placings here, my friend! Thanks for the read though. My wife came across this article and sent me the link. I am responsible for introducing her to Roxy Music, and now I have a resident fan to talk with about one of the most unusual bands I love.

Later in what could be the same school year, I was at a cast party for a play production and the father of the house asked me to play an unrecognizable band to me at the time. I was usually commandeered into being the DJ because I could get the old stereo in the basement working… It turns out that the unrecognizable band was Roxy Music, the record was siren.

Nobody including me had any interest in the songs and the record quickly got shuffled off to the side. I then forgot about Roxy Music. I immediately started to collect all the records and learn about the band. They are one of the most interesting bands, and Bryan Ferry is to me one of the most interesting people of all time, at least in the music industry. When I try to expose people to Roxy Music, I mostly get negative remarks. To bad. Too often Bryans vocals are out of tune, no wonder they werent on the radio when I was searching for interesting stuff to listen to.

I like to play them when I am in a nostalgic mood, and I sneak a song or two into playlists when we have people over, waiting for that person to run up to me and say Roxy Music?!?! A few years ago we went to see Bryan Ferry in concert.

It was without a doubt one of the best experiences I have had at a live music event. He literally blew us away, the renditions of the songs, from all over the spectrum were amazing. The musicians he brought were spot on — I know the beats and tones in these songs inside and out, they nailed every nuance. The fans made the experience even better. People were dancing with each other in the asileways.

At the break, complete strangers were gathering to talk about their experiences with Roxy Music and Best Rap Double Entendre Zip Code discussing their favorite songs. The whole experience was one of joy and happiness. On the ride home after the concert we were talking about how nobody we know is a Roxy Music fan. We felt like we were some priviliged fans invited into a private concert like some kind of speakeasy for music. Out of the Blue was the song that got me interested in Roxy Music.

From the mysterious opening sequence, the production values, and a completely off-the-chain guitar synth? Definitely top 10, if not top 5. I have to somewhat agree with Northeastnostromo — I have no idea how this list could possibly be formed as it is. Not one song from Avalon in the top 12… really? Obviously folks must like Roxy Music for different reasons, but I cannot fathom how Love Is the Drug comes in at 48 while Sentimental Fool stands at 2?

Every one of his fourteen albums have utilized literary references and common expressions in a carefully calculated and deliberate manner. Jay managed to incorporate a few double entendres on the album as well. You can be a hairpin off and you can trigger your Roots. The initial line demonstrates extensive knowledge of body language and a reluctance to accept our current reality. The double entendre forms within the second line as it pertains to the relevance of the preceding line.

The leader of The Roots, Questlove often held his afro in place with a hairpin. The basis of a double entendre thrives upon the subliminal and the subconscious. A double entendre contains underlying meanings that often elicit a desire to repeat the song. This, of course, depends on the technique and methodology involved during the listening experience. It is unfair to make assumptions based on listening preferences, as it is certain that each individual adheres to their own set of listening protocols and standards.

The double entendre itself carries more than one purpose and objective. Some artists prefer the use of the double entendre to create mystique and to baffle their audience. For a handful of listeners, double entendres tend to soar past levels of comprehension.

The double entendre provides an entirely different outcome for those that can grasp the meaning and avoid resulting perplexity. For the artist, the double entendre personifies proficient brilliance and demonstrates exquisite expertise.

For the connoisseur, the double entendre casts an aura of mastery upon the artist which leads the audience to appreciate the prophetic and cunning nature of the art. You should continue your writing. May I just say what a relief to discover someone who actually understands what they are talking about on the net.

You actually understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important. A lot more people really need to check this out and understand this side of the story. Excellent lines like "I was moving birds like an Oriole fitted" and "I'm on the block like I'm 8 feet tall" do convey the sense of two distinct images, but as mentioned before, the meaning is clear, not coded.
