Where have I suggested that a screw needs to be put through the joint?

I suggest putting a screw either side of the tenon to hold it while the glue dries. Standard practice for me and standard practice in all the joiners shops I've been in. Just one little thing that needs a query about your method of dowelling, cramping up and drilling through mortice and tenon together will result in a tight joint until any shrinkage occurs at which point the joint will become sloppy and loose and the PVA will lose its adhesion and fail.

The correct method of dowelling is to drill the morticed section, knock up the joint mark the centre of the hole, dissasemble take the centre back 2mm towards the shoulders, drill it,reasssemble, and then peg it thus having a guaranteed tight joint in the right situation, but then as a self proclaimed Master Joiner you would know that wouldnt you? Must just have been an oversight to clearly state to drill through them both and tosh a dowel in.

As a self proclaimed Master Joiner and having of course made hundreds of sliding sashes no doubt restored many too, perhaps you would like to explain how housed section of boxframes are held together and have been for hundreds of years, thats right nails and as soon as available screws.

But Screwfix Oak Dowel Keyboard what I would like to know is the diameter of the barrel, which has to be more than 6mm, so is it 7, 8, 9 or what?
