Now where's that envy emoji I figured that would be the compromise, and the reason why many people with similar requirements to mine buy more powerful V band saws. Bolts will randomly fall off, because the feet on the base scrape the floor when the lift wheel is engaged in the up position. As high as my expectations were for rikon 326 vs laguna 1412 ar saw, it has exceeded what I had hoped for on the resaw front.

The Laguna bandsaws also get good reviews. I think the frame size will work well for me and my shop. I wish I had more room for a bigger saw but space is at a premium. The BX, specifically the v, has 2. The 14SUV is actually only a few hundred more than the 14bx v vs. Otherwise I would get a MM16 however that closes in on 3K real fast!

Does the warranty matter to you? I see Rikon is 5yr versus 1 yr on the Laguna. Warranty isn't THAT important to me. I figure that any of these saws will long outlast their warranty.

Any issues with ceramics wearing out? I haven't had any issue with the ceramics wearing out but I got the saw Rikon 326 Manual Version just this year and haven't done a ton of work on it.

I am using the blades that Saw and Spec sells. They use M. I told Neil what I was doing and he told me what he would recommend. The Wood Slicer cuts a bit better than the M. Morse but the price is much higher. I decided to not go carbide after I broke my first blade and didn't want that to happen to the carbide one. The Laguna 1412 Parts 30 break was user error but the user hasn't changed.

Out of curiousity, what caused the blade to break? I think it was a combination of things. It broke at the weld and not next to it like it should. It was a timber wolf blade that broke. Thanka, Dave! I think I'm going Laguna. If for nothing else because of the service at Glenn Wing.

Just called them to see if they had gotten more epoxy pumps were out when I visited the woman said "Jeff says they should be on the UPS truck today. Would you like me to call you when they arrive? Thanks to the wonderful people at the Novi Rockler This happened earlier tonight. When I talked to them earlier in the week, they had said no, but they must have had a change of heart.

Posted January 15, Pwk Posted January 15, Laguna or Rikon self. Hi, I'm new here to reddit woodworking, looking for some advice. I'm buying my first bandsaw soon. I'm a hobbyist, but would like to eventually become a furniture maker in retirement, so as I build my shop up I'm aiming for semi-pro stuff so 12" resaw is nice to have! All things being equal I like that the Rikon is cheaper that's extra money I can use to buy wood , the Rikon would come from Lee Valley, backed by their great support, and Lee Valley where I normally buy my stuff only carries blades for the Rikon.

The Laguna is however closer to where I live Any advise appreciated. If you're looking to use it more seriously than a weekend warrior, I recommend the laguna bx instead.

A little more money but much better construction. Both the and are great but the laguna has ceramic guides I don't have first hand experience, but people are divided on the topic of ceramic guides.

Some love them, others prefer the conventional type. Have you used both the 14bx and the ? Because I am trying to decide between them. I have not used the , unfortunately. I have the 14bx and have nothing negative to say about it. Even then, you just have to go a little slower. Well, I found it on sale and I'd been mulling it over for like 8 months so I pulled the trigger on the 14bx 1.

I only have V in the shop so it's good to hear that you haven't had any problems with lack of power. I first bought a a few years ago, hated it. So many things just weren't right with it. Tech support were asshats. Sold it on CL and bought a Laguna 14 12, very happy with it. BX came out Hopefully I'm good for a while now but I really like both Lagunas.

The guides are easier to set and in my opinion work a lot better. I'm just a hobbyist, but I guess I used the Rikon enough to seize one of the guide bearings and support said "take it apart and clean it", but it's a sealed bearing.

I just bought a pack of like 10 online and replaced as they seized up. Gave the new owner that bag of bearings, good riddance.
