The single hole guide would be much better if you want to put holes in the edge of a 2x. I bought this set for a wood project with my Grandson. I would definitely recommend purchasing the starter screw set and if you want to use the plugs for the holes to order extra of those as well. You don't realize how many holes you end up drilling and screws used. There are fine and coarse thread in the different sizes so depending on whether you are using a hard or soft wood.

Overall great product. So I just received this item yesterday and when I opened it I found that the drill bit stop collar was missing the lock nut. I emailed their customer service hrs and received a reply less than 2 hours later apologizing for the missing lock nut.
