INCRA Crosscutting Sleds

So I went to do a little project last night and discovered that my Wood Whisperer crosscut sled is all out of square. The front rail is no longer perpendicular to the base and its also not square to the blade. I made the thing out of 2x4's and particle board incra sled news I know wasn't smart but its what I had at the time.

Now its slrd incra sled news and basically ready for the scrap pile. I know that jigs can be made to accomplish that and that they can be made with UHMW plastics that I'm assuming will be immune to temperature and humidity issues.

The problem is that I don't like building jigs. The secondary primary? Am I giving the Incra too much credit by assuming it could be my workhorse for crosscutting?

Is there something else that does the same thing for less money? I've seen the Rockler one but it appears to rely on your eye and no positive stops so it doesn't really appeal to me. Would one of the Incras without the sled do mostly the incra sled news thing? Am I an idiot Christmas money or no for spending that much dough?

I would not spend that kind of money on a jig just because of frustration. It will give you more accurate cuts, but it newa not make you Incra Crosscut Sled 65 a better wood worker. Is there a specific project you need this for? I hardly ever have projects that require this extreme accuracy, and when Incra sled news do, I just get it close and then make micro adjustments. Also, practice on scraps to get the correct angle.

What can you cut with sledd jig that you couldn't cut with a table saw and homemade sled? Probably nothing. It just seems that this incrra really be simple and fast to use. Have you got one jig for crosscutting and mitering or separate ones? Space is at a premium in my shop and anything that can do multiple jobs is a plus for me.

I always incra sled news jigs when I need them. Start with a crosscut sled, you will use incra sled news the most. If you need to do a lot of miters, then make a miter sled. I haven't had the need for one yet, I just use my miter gauge and snipe things in until they are perfect. I say go for it. Watching their video makes it look just as good as most miter saws I've seen. One reason I like having a miter incra sled news and a incra sled news saw is it allows me to leave a rip blade on the table saw and a cross cut blade on the miter saw. I only very occasionally have to put a crosscut blade on my table saw.

That's a good point about the miter saw but I don't really want to devote space for one uncra I don't have to. I have a Diablo bade that Nesw use for rips and crosscuts that does well on both. Is that a mistake? A miter saw saves enough time to make up for the nws in my opinion. Once you start Incra Miter Sled 5000 User using one you wont understand how you got by without it. The only thing they can't do is crosscut panels, which a miter jig isn't very good at either.

I don't know how durable it us but It looks bad ass and if that's the unit you want to get with your dough get it.

I miter with my table saws but I don't mind making jigs! Do you miter with your crosscut sled or have a separate jig for that? I'm still grappling with the price. That money would go along way towards a planer I need or a lathe that I just want.

I have a crosscut sled for 90 and a separate miter sled for If I need anything in between I can use the miter gauge. If i was deciding between this and a planer the planer would win every time. Have you considered a less expensove miter gauge from incra? I love the accuracy of my Incra fence I bought. If you want accuracy then these seem like they would be awesome. I know they are expensive, but if you want something that does not take forever to build, and get set right, then buy one of these.

The fact incar you can do many angle cuts, and get a good cross cut sled in one tool is a huge selling point. I was going to build myself a crosscut sled, but now Incra sled news might just buy this.
