I should have bought the festool. I replaced the hose with a bosch hose for better everything suction, felxibility, ability to mate with festool tools etc..

I empty the bag by removing the hose and sucking it out with my big dust collector which vents outside. On the plus side it is quiet, small and light. I bought this and a Festool vac, and while they are both excellent vacs, I prefer this Fein to the Festool. The Fein is noticeably quitter, and handles- wheels around easier and better than the Festool with it's two fixed rear wheels. I haven't used the auto-on plug in feature yet, but the tool I primarily use this to collect debris from a lathe draws quite a bit of amperage and I just have left it plugged into a dedicated outlet for it.

The build quality on this tool is excellent, and it has excellent suction. This is clearly my favorite vacuum, and I have 5 other vacs! Go ahead an spring for this one--it's worth it--I'm actually considering selling my Festool and trying a Turbo III, which is the most current iteration of this vac.

Quieter than my CT and way lighter. Light, quite and powerful. One tool switch glitched out but started working again on its own. Other than that, no issues. My CT is about 10 years old and has had zero issues. I doubt the Feins will still be kicking after 10 years.

Such is not the case. I loved this machine. Always used bags along with either the standard or the HEPA filter - unless I was cleaning up water then, no bag of course. I did reuse bags a few times - the debris was easy to empty and I didn't have replacement bags on hand. Always made it a point to check for and clear debris from the filter too - there was never much.

They're immaculate inside. And noise. And mess. Without an exhaust port, the Turbo I doesn't kick up dust from the floor or other surfaces - it definitely ups your game. And the filtered exhaust is healthier too.

I purchased the Fein Turbo 1 after researching quiet shop vacs and shop dust collection systems online. It was one of the few that actually gave a decibel rating. My old shop vac ran at 97 decibels, which required ear protection. The Fein is rated at 67 decibels.

My phone-based app reads it at 74 decibels, but that's still much better than 97! I don't even feel the need to wear ear protection with it. I find this smaller Fein shop vac to be every bit as powerful as my old, much larger shop vac.

Removing the next layer of housing required disconnecting the two leads going to the motor. One is a spade connection and the other is in a terminal block. The last crumbling foam part was finally visible. Surprisingly, the foam around the actual motor was still intact and resilient. My first instinct was to order a replacement foam set, but alas Fein has discontinued many of the spare parts , including the foam.

Looking closer at the intact foam around the motor, it reminded me of the sound absorbing foam used to line the inside of recording studios. Luckily a local foam supply store carried both thicknesses I needed, and it was super cheap. Based on appearance and density, the foam seemed to be a close match to the foam still on the motor. I made patterns of the foam parts and cut out replacements. A bread knife cut through the foam wonderfully.

My only negative for this particular model is the lack of hose and accessory storage, though Fein seems to have addressed this in the current model. I think the vacuum can be safely used without any of the foam, since the purpose of the foam is strictly sound proofing. But one of the nice things about this vacuum is how quiet it is, so I do want to try to replace this sound proofing. I wonder what impact, if any, the new foam had Fein Turbo Ii Review 80 on the sound level.

When I opened my vacuum to investigate the foam problem, I discovered that my motor is half melted and just waiting to catch fire. FYI, the motor appears to be made by Ametek Lamb, part number I ended up with a lot of left over. Re the Cleanstream filter- that can be locked on using one of those large nylon screws used to hold a toilet seat. Place it through the frame and the filter, then secure with the nut.
