Mulberry wood. A large tree special for its unusual color.
I just cut boards out of some quartered logs from my 20″ red mulberry tree. The wood is now down to % moisture. A cu. in. sample of heartwood weighed g. If my math is right, that translates to a density of nearly 47 lb/cu. ft., even at a lower moisture content than the 12% standard. The sapwood on these logs is so degraded from. The thing is Mulberry is a dense wood has a high BTU and also has a very high water content when it’s green and it takes a long time to dry it takes about a year to two years to fully dry out the key thing is that you have to have it off the ground and ventilated it so it can dry out fully. Cause Mulberry wood likes to hold onto its moisture. Uses for Mulberry Wood Mulberry is nice for turnings, knick-knacks, and furniture. April 18, Question I have available two big mulberry trees.
