It has been used for finishing in China since at least B.C. In the past 50 years, tung oil has been very popular by itself, or as an ingredient in other finishing oils. As a pure oil it has a lot of advantages.  Liberon tung oil is about as pure as we can find.. It’s very easy to apply: just wipe it on. It is basically a non-filling finish, so the texture of the wood remains. Liberon Pure Tung Oil is highly resistant to water, alcohol and food acids. Providing a hard wearing finish it is ideal for surfaces such as kitchen worktops, tables and all high quality interior wood. Pure Tung Oil, with no added dryers, is a natural, non-toxic product which can be used on toys and objects in contact with food such as salad bowls etc. Being a penetrating oil it allows the wood to age gracefully and develop a natural patina.
