Please make sure that you are posting in the form of a question. Jay Mack says:. Called driver Laguna suv 14 reviews ID but he would not come back. This screams China to me. The tension dial is also easy to operate.

It felt like the limiting factor was the gullets getting loaded up, so it might be valuable to have a coarser pitched blade for those cuts. Cutting that log in half was clearly not a challenge for this saw. I had to colour in the ridges to make them show up on camera.

The quality of the cut I get with it varies based on my feed rate. If I take my time, I get a surface that could easily be finished off with a few strokes of a finely set plane or some 80 grit paper on a random orbit sander. Taking my time through the cut, I had to colour very lightly with a crayon to get the marks to show up on camera, and that was with a 3 TPI blade — I fully expect that a finer pitched blade will cut through dovetails that are ready for glue.

Yes, you may see an impressive shower of sparks. At first, they were much more frequent and dense — almost like using a bench grinder if I pushed a cut hard. I now only see a few here and there. The user guide says that this is normal. I find the blade guides are fairly finicky to set up and some of the adjustments require Allen keys. Nothing was so awkwardly placed as to be inaccessible, and the guide blocks seem nicely made.

Changing the blade requires removing the yellow blade guards on the guide post and below the table, which is a little unfortunate, but not difficult. It has a clip that holds it in place under the table that I had to bend a little to get to work correctly. The clip is mounted on a spring, and twisting it is supposed to catch it on the underside of the table casting, riding up a bevel on the clip. A little twist with the pliers and it now works perfectly.

The blade guides raise and lower on a rack and pinion round post and locks in place with a screw against a flat spot on the post. This is a minor irritation that makes adjusting the guide height a two handed operation.

The blade tension mechanism on this saw is one of its best features, and none of the saws I compared it with had anything close. By comparison, the release lever on the Laguna is long, comfortable, and smooth. Applying and releasing the blade tension is effortless. The tension dial is also easy to operate. The tension indicator is something new to me — I learned to adjust tension by plucking the back of the blade and listening because my old saw lacked any indication of tension, so I have more or less ignored the fact that there is an indicator there.

My one comment about the blade tension mechanism is that it would be really nice if future versions added a micro switch to cut the power if the blade tension is not applied. The fact that this saw has a brake was a big attraction for me. Hitting the brake pedal shuts off the motor and putting your foot down slows the wheels. Left to its own devices, this saw takes what seems like an eternity to spin down. The wheels are so heavy that even pressing pretty hard on the brake, it takes seconds for me to stop it.

Waiting for it to Laguna Lt14 Suv Bandsaw Review Mac spin down on its own to remove an Laguna Lt14 Suv Size errant offcut would be a bit frustrating. Facing the outfeed side of the saw, the tilt stop is on the right.

It swings down to the right when it is not needed. The table on this saw is generously sized and heavy. The trunnions are beefy and solid, and the tilt mechanism has a geared adjustment knob with a gas spring strut to assist.

There are two locking knobs, which are comfortably sized. Adjusting the tilt is a two handed operation, as the table is heavy enough that it will fall fairly heavily back to its positive stop if you let go of the adjustment knob without the locking knobs tightened.

The tilt control knob is smooth, a little bit small and a little slippery to grip, but it gets the job done. When tilting the left side of the table down, the positive stop swings out of the way to allow the table to drop down.

I'll be installing a longer one at some point I'm sure. For the few times I called into customer support with general questions, I was pleased to receive friendly, courteous service along with helpful answers. Also, when I had initially decided to purchase this saw, Laguna had decided to stop selling through Amazon at the time. After a few calls, the Laguna sales rep bent over backwards to make the sale through Amazon I'd save up a ton of gift cards.

Huge props for that sales effort and willingness to make a customer happy! In all, I feel the saw is of great quality and good value. Yes the inital price can be seen as high, but I learned a long time ago you get what you pay for. This saw has been a joy to work with since my first cut. I see this being a reliable part of my shop for many years to come. Arrived early! Packed very well! After a very long research period on my part, I decided on this model.

I love the larger resaw capacity and it has lots of power with the 3 hp leeson. The only thing I wish is that the table were higher, I'm 6'5. I highly recommend this band saw!

The fit any finish is good but not great. The paint on the bottom of the unit is already chipping off. The Motor has no marking, label or plate stating its voltage or horsepower. Generic I did find a label on the bandsaw stating it's voltage but not the horsepower, make, model or serial number.

Brand New and already has rusting flywheels. Flywheel tires already unraveling on inside. The flywheels, which are roughly cast and poorly finished painted , have rust along the entire outer diameter of the wheels and along Laguna 14 Bandsaw Suv the inside as well.

Hopefully they have minimal runout. I won't know till I check them with my dial gauge. They had pretty large gouges on the side of the wheel and already started rusting. I highly recommend the Mobility Kit which makes the unit easy to move. There is no mention of this in their description. I can't review how well it cuts because I have to wait for my new blade to arrive. The Saw Table is very nice and sturdy heavy and well finished.

The bolt used to level the top, where the Table sits was crooked, but I was able get it level. The Ceramic Guides look really nice. I hope they work as good as they look. The resaw capacity of this saw is amazing. I can't wait to run some logs through it. I will update my review once my blade arrives and I get to use the bandsaw. Had to Remove the Table Base and unbolt and realign the base so the blade wouldn't run into the base and so I could setup the lower ceramic guides.

Pictures Available. This causes the blade to fluctuate forward and backward and causes vibration of the saw. Contacting Vendor for help. Very Dissapointed. Quality Control must have had the day off when this band saw was built ;0. A very well designed machine! This bandsaw is a fine piece of equipment. It takes some time to properly set it up, but it does an outstanding job.

I just installed the 1 inch Resaw King blade and the cuts this bandsaw makes are remarkable! It cuts extremely fast and smooth with this blade.

It doesn't take much effort to make smooth, accurate, and fine cuts. Yes this machine and blades are expensive, but it is a pleasure to use! All of the adjustments are supposed to be Given all of the hype in various sources, I decided to buy the V 14" Laguna Bandsaw to replace my previous purchased Italian made same version that gave me problems that I did not want to continue Mostly unavailable replacement parts.

I really was convinced by the ads that Laguna was a reputable company that I would not have problems with by going the cheap route. Well, guess what, not so great. All of the adjustments are supposed to be made with a bag full of poor quality hex wrenches instead of most band saws that have knobs to adjust the blade guides.

It is a very cumbersome process. The table does not lock securely and the table plate for the blade to go through the table is very difficult to get in and out. The parts bag had the wrong size bolts for the base and when I called to get the correct size, the contact person appeared to have little knowledge of machinery repeated misinterpreting what I was calling bolts as "Bowls".

I no longer expect the quality of our tools of the past, but this is ridiculous. I would recommend further investigation by anyone that wants this type product.

I got the new 18 laguna. Save your money and reduce your stress by buying from another manufacturer. I'm on my second SUV because there were so many issues with the first one it had to be replaced. I own a Laguna 8" jointer and like it more every time I use it. Pros: sleak, relatively quiet, with plenty of cutting power Cons: where to start? After assembling my first unit I installed a Resaw King blade and that's when I noticed things were a little off.

The right side upper blade guide when adjusted all the way out was still riding against the blade. I called customer service and had the same poor experience that pretty much everyone else mentions who has called them. It was downright laughable as it was obvious the person I spoke with had no mechanical knowledge nor his manager who eventually chimed in a week later.

Several phone calls, emails pictures back an fourth, 7 hours of frustrating meticulous tweaking and it was obvious this unit was not going to be fixed and there were some definite engineering flaws in the design. That's when they stopped comunicating.

Luckily I didn't buy direct from Laguna and was able get the reseller to ship a replacement. Roughly a month later I have a second unit and spent another two hours of setup. This unit had a slightly better throat plate but similar non-centered guide problems. This time I had a half millimeter of play left on the right upper guide. Considering the Resaw King blade is likely the thickest blade I will ever use I decided to just accept it.

For all the touting Laguna does regarding their ceramic guides they are crap. I also hear replacements when they wear out are expensive. The guides upper and lower adjust by a combination of several different size allen wrenches and small thumb screws. The thumb screws on the bottom guides are ackward to reach. Each guide, left and right, has a seperate upper and lower piece of ceramic.

The guides move laterally and freely rotate in an arc. Tightening the thumb screws cause the guides to rotate which inevitably means aligning the upper and lower ceramic in each guide to the same distance or friction to the blade is tedious to near impossible.

The 14x14SUV has the most power by far, the greatest resaw capacity 14" , the best blade guides, an L-shaped fence you can use in up or down positions, and a magnetic power switch that prevents accidental start-ups. It also features a table with a rack-and-pinion gear and gas strut for smooth, easy tilting; two 4" dust ports for the best dust collection; and a foot brake with power disconnect to quickly stop the blade.
