It would be greatly appreciated. Do you have a simple list of wood and materials? After reading a bunch of comments, I'd like to see if i can shed some light on the top of the piece.

It seems people are assuming the the top is wrapped in 1" x 2". This isn't the case when looking at the first picture of the top, only 3 sides have the 1"x2" attached. The back side of the top is left without the wrap. I'm assuming this is to save on material costs since that portion of the nightstand is always against the wall. So taking the measurements from the top piece of plywood and adding the 1.

It also states, that the 1"x2" he used was 1. This gave the final top dimensions of 22"x18". If you are using a 1"x2" that measures. That would make the new plywood cut piece 19"x This would result in the same final dimensions of 22"x18". Can you post a cut list for all pieces needed for this project so I know how much wood to buy?

Question 1 year ago on Step 6. OK, someone 'splain this to me. The finished top is 22"x18". Doing the math, leaves 20 inches between the two cove moldings. I think I'm getting what's going on. This is extremely confusing. That would clear up a lot of these problems. This is the first and last time that I will build something from written out instructions.

Actual plans and cut layout will be a lot easier to follow. BTW, really like the night stand and how it looks. It'll be great when I remake the top to fit the sides. The description for building the rails states that adding the height of the 1 x 3, the three 1 x 2s, and the three 1 x 6s with gaps equals 25 inches which matches the panels for the sides.

Reply 1 year ago. I had to write it all out in order for it to make sense. I'm close to a full materials list - just figuring out the mechanism for secret drawer and cleat unfamiliar with this piece.

Hope this helps! Question 2 years ago on Step 1. I am not following the measurements right from the start. What am I not seeing? Thank you. Answer 2 years ago. I'm working on rendering this in Sketchup and ran into the same issue. The cove moulding goes underneath the top. Take a close look at the pics. This seems to be how I'm working it out so far. Reply 2 years ago. MarkK were you able to get this rendered in Sketchup? Would love to see if you're willing to share.

As a newbie woodworker, thanks for sharing the Nightstand Top! I'd love to build this but there is simply too much detail I am unsure about.
