One of the things we do is to build a building using as many blocks as we can. Then we have a child see if they can get the whole building to fall down by taking out a single block. It inspires the builders to think of ways to make the building sturdy and the knocker to consider carefully the result of pulling any particular block.

Another great thing to do with tape to incorporate learning with blocks is to put tape on the floor in the shape of a letter or number so that the child can use blocks to make the letter or number. A child has to use geometry to figure out where to place the block, estimation by figuring out the size block needed and how many and to add more learning, they actually can touch the letter or number! It has to be in their hands before it can make it to their brains!
