I could perhaps agree that this is the "best museum in the state," as another reviewer has claimed. It is definitely an amazing place. My wife and I first visited this museum with our kids about years ago and were amazed then.

In the intervening years, they have expanded and improved the museum even more, adding many more of "Mooney's" carvings to the collection. It is, thus, even more amazing and impressive than it was then.

Almost as equally impressive is the "Button House" that features the button collection and wonderful designs created by Ernest "Mooney" Warther's wife. And, just to hit it out of the ballpark, the gardens are lovely, too. It is a truly unforgettable experience. BTW, another serious contender for "best museum in the state" is the one owned by "Mooney's" grandson David. I have done a separate review of that one, but suffice it to say here that it is just as impressive—if not, perhaps, even more so—than this one.

The museum had no appeal to me, so I wandered the grounds, garden, gift shop, and museum shop. I was also able to go into the Button Museum. All were enjoyable. The knives and the wooden household items that are all made right there were impressive and cool to look at.

My husband opted for the museum and had a great time. He was totally fascinated and had recommended it to several people since then. They've made a number of excellent changes to enable social distancing. There ample room for oversized vehicle parking behind the complex.

Brienz is famous for wood carvings and the Haggler family is one of the few remaining artisans continuing this tradition.

The store is situated beside the Lake of Brienz and is a sight to behold. It's amazing what lonely winter days can do for the imagination. If you find yourself wondering what to do when in Interlaken and want to get away from the shops and traffic for a while, , there is no better way than taking the short 23 minute train trip to a little lakeside village called Brienz.

There is a regular service to and from as it is the main line to Lucerne. With snow capped peaks mirrored in the water it was like a postcard all the way. The little station is right on the edge of the small town with one long street with a variety of shops and little cafes. A long lakeside walkway runs parallel to the street and at the far end. The main attraction of the village is the shop and showrooms of the famous handmade Huggler woodwork pieces.

As an artist, I found the finely hand carved items true works of art. The friendly staff told me it is possible to attend short or long classes Brienz has been famous down the years for large pieces of sculptured wood and their collection of nativity figures, farm animals etc in various sizes left me in awe of the workmanship and attention to detail.
