If his team can't help, it's likely nobody can. What is the full width, depth, and height shopsmith table saw wood lathe limited the Shopsmith in table saw mode? Dimensions of Shopsmith Limitrd by jpb » Tue Feb 01, am Hi, this is my first post and I have a 'pre-newbie' question. A fully enclosed lower saw guard covers the blade under the table, while a clear, see-through upper guard channels sawdust back to the lower guard dust chute. This workshop has two large doors -- 45in x 90in -- one on each 8ft wall. So I can open the space to the great outdoors in good weather to do ripping of longer pieces, if needed. However I don't want to depend on good weather, usually, when operating the Shopsmith during the hard winter months up here in Northern Ontario, Canada. One of the doors will probably be kept closed for the most part; it has a large window and provides lots of good light that floods the space.

I might position the Shopsmith along that 8ft end wall and try to operate it that area. Or I might store it under a woodrack along one of the 14ft side walls and pull it out at an angle to operate.

I have other power tools, but if the Shopsmith can fit well I would like to give it pride of place and sort out a modular or mobile system for the other stuff. Nothing very complicated. Anyone else have a tight space with this shape and size? Any advice on fitting a Shopsmith under shelving or wall-mounted cabinets?

Thanks, JPB. Post by holsgo » Tue Feb 01, am The shop you have is perfectly sized. You'll find more than enough room for it. As a matter of fact, you'll find more room with the Shopsmith than that same space filled with good, quality standalones. And, you'll be able to repair the shopsmith forever. Not the case with many other standalone tools. Post by mbcabinetmaker » Tue Feb 01, am The full length of the Shopsmith without additional tables is 72 to 73 inches.

I am not sure about the depth that depends on the model and the main table size but it is around 24 inches. Storage on an 8 foot wall will work fine. Do you use the lathe operation for anything over 24 inches? I have a Mark 5 dedicated for a drill press that I cut 12 inches off of the tubes to give it a 60 inch long foot print.

The only disadvantage that I find in shortening one is the loss of the length of the lathe ability. So there are options for smaller workspaces.

This is my new shorty. Only 48 inches long. Post by michaeltoc » Tue Feb 01, pm 8' wide will work, but it will be a little tight in drill press mode. Fortunately, the retractable casters make it very easy to move around to accommodate long rips or wide crosscuts something you can't do with a stationary table saw - so you shouldn't need to open the doors too often.

Post by berry » Tue Feb 01, pm My shop is 12 x 14 and I find it kinda tight when ripping boards over 6 feet in length and really tight if I do an 8 footer. The saw needs to be set up katty-corner sp? Other than that it should be no problem.

Being able to move it to shop center f and then moving it to a wall or corner to do something else is one of the SS major advantages. I have a rather narrow available width of about eight feet, but i'm able to turn the Shopsmith 90 degrees in order to rip long boards. Actually, I've even sawn 4'x8' sheets with a helper, but this is a little tight. In limited space such as this there is no combination of separate tools, at any price, that offers the capacity and capability of a Shopsmith.

Use it to micro-adjust the saw blade when you need super-precise rip cuts Shopsmith Always Takes Safety Seriously Our rip fence slides smoothly into position and locks firmly with a dual clamping system that secures both fence ends. Our squeeze-type miter gauge safety grip clamps workpieces tightly to the gauge bar during the cut, ensuring precision and keeping your hands out of harm's way.

A fully enclosed lower saw guard covers the blade under the table, while a clear, see-through upper guard channels sawdust back to the lower guard dust chute. You also get a European style riving knife with twin cam-style pawls to keep the saw kerf from closing dangerously on the blade and prevent kick-backs. Continue to Disc Sander Close [X].
