This miter gauge is very accurate and beautifully made except for one important problem: the t-slot bar is aluminum and has too much flex. Very accurate. It has taken my use of the saw bench up a level in accuracy. This was a hard decision, buy Incra or Kreg. I read every available review and the precision miter comparison review in the Fine Woodworking Magazine where the Kreg was judged to be the best buy.

Incra miter has a lot of features but it appears that the attachment bracket on this product needs to be shimmed, a no, no to leave that to the buyer. The Kreg is advertised as factory calibrated and I can confirm it actually is.

I recommend to set the Kreg miter up very carefully. I used Lee Valley set up blocks instead of a Kreg Precision Miter Gauge System Kms7102 Online tape measure. Use utmost care in cutting the tape correctly. The miter bar guide screws where set up as follows: deviation from manual - insert all plastic guide screws with a correct fitting screw driver - use a stop block to set all 5 screws flush with bar - then turn each screw exactly the same amount in small increments if bar is sloppy think carburetor adjustment This procedure works best and I was able to set guide over entire lengths first time with a sweat alignment as result.

Following the Kreg procedure is a hit or miss. This way you have proper backing for small work pieces. I made several for straight and miter cuts. However I screwed the first on up as I did not allow for the plastic guides inserted in the extrusion.

I recommend to measure centreline for holes with miter installed. Other Option would be if Kreg would add these dimensions to the manual to avoid these mishaps. This miter gauge is definitively a buy.

The holes were too tight, so multiple screws were stripped just trying to drive them. They also wore out incredibly quickly, and needed to be replaced multiple times over the past couple if years of use. In addition, there is a peg that you put into holes to secure the gauge into a number of preset angles I tried twisting it with pliers with no luck, and tried tapping it out from behind to no avail. Finally, I ended up having to pull it out with a claw hammer, mangling the head, and slightly bending the miter bar in the process.

Now, this peg won't actually fit into holes anymore, and the turn-to-tighten handle isn't strong enough to hold an angle. Unless you are super-duper delicate, the flip down portion can tilt sideways, making the cuts in accurate.

As of a few minutes ago, I ended up spending more money and ordered the Incra SE. It's design eliminates all of the issues I mention above, and I will be Kreg Precision Miter Gauge System Kms7102 Card tearing down the Kreg basically just for the t-slot bar to make something else out of the parts.
